They are the only team to have played in both the AFC and the NFC, as they are the only team to have switched conferences, twice. They rose to the Super Bowl once, losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The team was named through a public contest, and has since secured five division titles, and won the NFC Championship Game in 2005. This broke the longest stretch of no playoff wins for any team, starting from 1984.

The 200,000 square foot facility, second largest in the NFL, will be scheduled to open in the summer of 2008. The property is conveniently located close to Interstate 405 to the east, and will be used year-round for all Seattle Seahawks training activities. This move is another indication that the Seahawks are on the up and up, since they won last year's Wild Card Playoffs. Fans of the Seattle side are optimistic and there's a belief in the city that a Playoffs result this season can kick-start a new era of success and economic upturn.
