The Super Bowl is the National Football League's championship game.

The idea started as a championship between the American Football League (AFL) and the NFL called the AFL-NFL World Championship Game.
After the two merged in 1970, the game has been played on the Sunday following the playoffs, or more recently, the first Sunday in February. The Super Bowl is the most watched broadcast of the year, and the commercials during the game account for a large source of revenue. More food is consumed on this day than any other except for Thanksgiving.
Each Super Bowl is identified using Roman numerals, because of the way the NFL seasons are spread over two years. The Indianapolis Colts are Super Bowl XLI champions, winning over the Chicago Bears. No Super Bowl has ever gone into overtime, or ended in a shutout. In six of the last seven Super Bowls, the team that won the coin toss has gone on to lose the game. No team has ever played a Super Bowl in their own stadium, as the location changes every year.
