The Miami Dolphins franchise was started in 1966 and the team plays in the Eastern Division of the American Football Conference. They are the oldest major-league pro-sports franchise in Florida.

The team won Super Bowl VIII the next year, becoming the first to appear three times in a row at the Super Bowl. They were only the second team to ever win consecutive championships. The team made it to the Super Bowl in both XVII and XIX, but lost both times.
One notable member of the team was head coach Don Shula, who has won more games than any other coach in pro-football history. Six future hall of famers have played for the team, including Larry Csonka and Bob Griese. Dan Marino is another notable player who led the team to numerous playoff appearances.
Recent changes to the team's line up are happening to rebuild the team's image. There is speculation that one game may be played against the New York Giants at Wembley Stadium in London.
The Miami Dolphins re-signed fullback Kyle Eckel and cornerback Michael Lehan to one-year contracts during the 2007 offseason free-agency period. Eckel was an exclusive rights player while Lehan was an unrestricted free agent, and now the two are anchored to Dolphin Stadium for another season.
New Head Coach Cam Cameron has spoke about his first few months on the job for the Dolphins and has also talked about how Dolphins fans have gone five years without a trip to the playoffs, despite being used to successes in the fairly recent past. Cameron emphasized that the number one thing in his mind was how Dolphins' fans needed to realize the team needs them, especially when it comes to home games, when a vocal support is always crucial. He said, "I have come to realize how many fans we have not only in this country, but around the world. They need to understand that my goal is to bring them a championship. But we need a strong home field advantage to get there."
Cameron pledged to bring and maintain a team in tremendous condition to the Miami area, a team that worked hard. "Our approach from the first day has been to be aggressive. I want the fans to know we are going to be aggressive in everything we do and I think some of the things we have already done have demonstrated that", he said in his new column on the Miami Dolphins.com website.
Most Miami fans are praying for a return to the high life, for the days of playoffs, Super Bowls and fireworks. When the Dolphins begin working through the schedule, the truth will be clear to see, and Cam Cameron's new life will take on a new meaning. As ever, the hunt for cheap tickets will begin again and the bleachers will be frothing with football fans. Let's hope they grant Cameron his wish, and they raise the roof with their roars.
