The team replaced the former Houston Oilers who moved to Nashville, making room for the Texans to come in as an expansion team. Thanks to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo pushing for a new dome to be built to lure another NFL team to the city, the team was able to start up in Houston.

The Texans made NFL history through becoming the first expansion team to win two season openers in a row, defeating their instate competitors the Dallas Cowboys in 2002, and the Miami Dolphins the next year. In 2004 the Texans hosted Super Bowl XXXVIII.

Progress that was made up until 2005 fell short of expectations that season, ending with the worst record in the NFL. Though this earned the team first pick in the NFL draft, fans booed the passing over of USC running back Reggie Bush for defensive end from NC State, Mario Williams. Many Texan fans were truly angered and shocked at the choice. The 2006 season marked the franchise's first season finale victory.

The Texans have been unable to put together a solid string this season, with a great team showing up on some days and a lackluster team the next game. Its up to Head Coach Gary Kubiak to get this team working together and get the most out of a talented squad. QB Matt Schaub has had some great passes, and Texans fans are hoping he can keep it going. With all these signings, the football at the Texans' stadium in Houston is set to get better, that is for sure. Barber is entering his eleventh year in the NFL, and has 105 games under his belt, 76 started at linebacker. His record is a concrete one, to say the least, and it is estimated that this early foray into the trades market will solidify the Green Bay roster while the team are entering their offseason training and conditioning program.
