The team is one of the most valuable teams in North America according to Forbes, with an estimated value of $1.473 billion. The Redskins are currently number one in terms of monetary worth. The Cowboys are also one of the wealthiest teams, with almost $250 million in annual revenue.
The franchise holds the record for most consecutive winning seasons and the most seasons with over 10 wins. They had 20 winning seasons from 1966 to 1985. They have had the most postseason appearances as well as the most NFC Championship Game appearances. They were the first NFL team to win three Super Bowls in four years. The New England Patriots are the only other team to have done so. They also are tied with the San Francisco 49ers and the Pittsburgh Steelers for having the most Super Bowl wins, with five titles.
The Dallas Cowboys' Cheerleaders are an integral part of the team, spawning successful music careers for the likes of Paula Abdul. The team has also had nine Hall of Famers, said to be a low number considering the amazing season the team had in the 70s.
The blood, sweat and tears of the off-season training program are upon the Dallas Cowboys football team once again. The Cowboys should be inspired by their recent performances, which generated some of the most impressive numbers in at least a decade.
But at the same time, it was obvious last season that their legendary Cowboys' assault on the NFL didn't quite go as it could, or indeed should. The football team known as "America's Team" somehow faltered last season, and wasted what might have been a much better overall record for the year, and as this new season stirs like a sleeping giant, the jumbo-sized football team from Texas will be revving their engines and preparing to improve.
The late season failures (losing three of the final four games and a playoff game, 21-20, in Seattle) were nonetheless amazing, given the facts behind the story. The Cowboys were playing through a weird and electrifying transition – switching quarterbacks in mid-stream, the substitute being a one-season rookie who had never thrown a pass until the season immediately before, and the roster overall was stuffed with shining offensive players which the Cowboys sent to the pro-bowl to showcase their stuff. The Cowboys made a 60.3-percent touchdown rate inside the 20-yard line. They scored a minimum of 17 points in all but one of their regular season games, with only San Diego matching that. They also produced a 300 yards total offense in 14 consecutive games which was equal to the third longest streak in club history. The Super Bowl was never out of their sights, but unfortunately this maverick brand of professional football derailed as the might of the NFL schedule hit it head on.
Last season still causes Cowboys fans to wince slightly when they ponder what might have been, but nonetheless remains a fabulous offensive season in the memories of those who followed its progress through the schedule, and we can only speculate on what bizarre alterations to the roster await us in 2007. America's team plays with a great roving spirit, and for that reason most people would never turn down a Dallas Cowboys' ticket.
